I felt judged for not using long term hormonal contraception

I’ve only had it twice in my life (I’m 30) both times it was because of condom splitting and I was in long term relationships.
I do not for the life of me see why such a stern chat with me, like I was some kind of idiot, was necessary. I don’t like using hormonal contraception long term and I felt judged for that.
